KRAKEN

KRAKEN
The kraken is a legendary sea monster from the abnormal size, his myth has ancient origins, but has developed mainly between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, perhaps even on the basis of reports of sightings of real giant squid. It is generally represented as a giant octopus with tentacles large enough to wrap an entire ship. In Norwegian, Krake indicates an unhealthy animal or aberrant (in analogy to the English forms crook and crank). In German, Krake means octopus
