SPHINX

SPHINX
The Sphinx is a mythological figure in Greek mythology as both belonging to the Egyptian mythology. Is portrayed as a monster with a lion's body and human head (androsfinge), hawk (ieracosfinge) or goat (criosfinge). The sphinx in Egyptian mythology is a monument that was built near the pyramids of the pharaohs from Egyptian slaves. He had the body of a lion and the head, it is believed, represented the pharaoh. One of the most famous sphinx is built near the pyramids of the pharaohs Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus at Giza, near the Cairo.Nella Greek mythology - that depicts with wings and the head of a woman - had been sent by Hera, in sign of punishment, against the city of Thebes. Settled on a cliff above Mount Cithaeron, put the puzzle or riddle to those who passed, devouring those who failed to get to the bottom of the question.
